Well hell, you might as well get one of these for it too.

Or just forget the silly emblems, wings and rear bumper covers and buy a used police package Charger instead of the Crown Vic.
Trust me, I've lived with both for years. The Charger is worth the extra money.

Then install a more powerful Ecoboost crate engine?

Which one is easier to get in and out of the back seats?

The Vic is easier to get in and out of, front and rear. It's not even close.

But the build quality of the Charger is much better. The material quality is miles ahead. And that push-rod lump is a quantum leap ahead of the 4.6 sohc.

I know, and one of the reasons I'm looking into getting a Vic/Grand Marquis is to transport people. I occasionally need to have three or four passengers some of whom are older. Now have to use my wife's car on such occasions which I hate. My brother says I should get an xB, and he's not wrong I just don't want another FWD 4 cylinder econobox.

But the Vic you'll get for less than 10,000 dollars is a lot nicer than the Charger you'll get for less than 10,000 dollars. Especially if you refuse to buy a V6 Charger, and I do.

If transporting back seat passengers is your only concern buy a minivan. If you want the best, cheap four door sedan you can buy get a used police package Charger. The first time you plant your right foot to the floor and the thing goes sideways you'll be glad you did.
There's nothing wrong with a Crown Vic, until you compare it to a Charger.

I have driven a 2010 or 09 R/T. It was the first time a car ever actually scared me. I had no idea what 330hp and RWD felt like.

No argument there. But as I said the Charger is worth the money.
The Vic will leave you satisfied that you got a lot of bullet-proof car for the money. The Charger will have you smiling as you pay for new rear tires.

My plan is to have one car for being big and comfy, and another one for being fun to drive. The Charger is a compromise between the two. Which is great, but not what I want. Plus the Vic has a middle seat in the front which is nifty.

CVPIs only have the middle seat if it has the upgraded interior (aka "detectives car" if you're craigslist shopping). All of the other Panthers seat six. In six years of buying CVPIs at auction, I've only ever seen a handful and they tend to fetch a premium.
If you have access to a junkyard and live in a decent climate, it's cheaper to swap MGM seats into a CVPI than CVPI go-fast(er) parts into a civillian car.

The V6 wasn't good at all though, and the Hemi ones are pricey.
In my area, the Police scooped up tons of Chargers when they first came out. Then got rid of all of them within a year and replaced them with Crown Vics again.

I did specify "the push-rod lump". I also acknowledged the Charger is more expensive but said it's worth the cost.
You say your local departments bought Chargers but then went back to Crown Vics. So what are they buying now since the Vic has been out of production for three and a half years?

The new Explorer and Taurus based cars. They have all of one Charger and one Caprice, which were probably for testing. The overwhelming majority are still Crown Vics though. Even thought they have been out of production, there's not much to fill it's shoes perfectly. I still see an '03-'06 from time to time.
